I Can't Believe My Luck

Since my birthday was last Sunday, Mr. Taleteller was nice enough to take me to Chicago for the day yesterday. It was a lot of fun, even though we didn't get to take the girls. We ate at Weber Grill, did some shopping and went to the top of the Willis Building, which is the recently renamed Sears Tower. We took Flat Nigel along with us, but it wasn't the same as having the girls with us.

I was afraid that when we got back, rather late, that not only would there be a mess to clean up, but that I would get a serious case of the cold shoulder.  To my surprise, we did not come home to a mess and Bunny was thrilled beyond words to see me.  She leaned against me for a long time and then curled up on the couch with me.  There's really nothing like coming home!

I count myself lucky every time I come through the door.  Not only do I still have a job that I mostly enjoy doing, I have the best things in the world to come home to.  While I'm very thankful to Mr. Taleteller for taking me on the trip, I'm also grateful to the girls for making it wonderful to come home!

We were recently awarded the Versatile Blogger Award by Bud and Ginger and Dexter and Nora.  The rules of the award state that we must thank those who gave it to us, so thanks Bud, Ginger, Dexter and Nora!  It also says that we need to tell seven things about ourselves and then list seven others to receive the award.  Since Bunny's answers to these things are always better than mine, I'm letting her take over from here.

Bunny here with my list of seven things about me!

1.  I like sleeping in in the morning, the later the better!  I will get up if I have to, but don't count on me to be the alarm clock.  That's Lilac's job!

2.  I can't resist kids, especially little girls.  They are just the right height to pet me and they never seem to get tired of it.  Plus, they always fuss over me a lot while they're petting me.

3.  I love to run at the dog park.  Mom even says I show off a little sometimes when we go there.   But I don't run much in the house unless I get a really bad case of cabin fever.

4.  I like to pretend I'm going to sleep in Blueberry's bed at night when Dad calls us to bed.  It drives Dad and Blueberry crazy!  Blue insists on having her spot and Dad likes Blue to be happy.  I hold out for a little while and then I hop up on the bed with Mom and Dad.

5.  I once caught a baby robin in my mouth, but I let it go.  Mom yelled "Drop it" three times, and I did it every time until it got up on the fence and landed outside the pen.

6.  I enjoy sharing the big dog bed with Lilac when she'll let me.  Sometimes she will share it with me, and sometimes she gets up and leaves when I lay beside her.  I try to be careful with her and let her have what she wants.

7.  Nothing makes me happier than all of us going on an adventure for the day together.  I know Lilac doesn't like riding in the van so much, but I like it when she goes with us and we get to sniff around at the dog park and all spend time together.

Now, we'd like to pass this along to some other bloggers.  If you don't like to participate in awards, that's okay.  There's no pressure.  It's all in fun!  We're also supposed to tell them that they got an award.  I tried to remember who I'd seen get this award already, but I'm sure I missed some somewhere.  We're sorry if you already got it!

1.  Being Ladybug
2.  Who's Driving?
3.  Mygreatdaneisinlovewithme
4.  Greyt Days
5.  The Adventures of Cloud the Wonder Dog
6.  Dennis' Diary of Destruction
7.  Multum In Parvo... With A Cinnabon Tail

Whew!  That was a lot of thinking!  I think I'm going to need a nap after all that.  Hopefully you'll have fun visiting them if you haven't already!

And yes, we're participating in the blog hop this weekend.  It's been a lot of fun and we've seen some great new blogs because of it!  We're glad they decided to start this.

A Sweet Saturday Award

We were recently tagged by several of our friends to recieve this award.  We'd like to thank Dennis the Vizsla, Rainy and Twinkie for thinking of us!  The rules of the award say that you have to do three things.  You need to display the award on your blog.  You need to list ten things that you enjoy doing, and do at least one of them today.  Finally, you need to name ten other blogs that you want to share the award with.  Bunny feels that her answers will be more entertaining than mine, so I'll let her tell you what her ten favorite things to do are.

1. Go back to bed on Saturdays and get back under the covers with Mom.

2. Eat yogurt out of the cup.

3. Go to the dog park.

4. Go for walks.

5. Dream about catching rabbits.

6.  Snuggle on the couch with Mom.

7. Go to the dog bakery.

8. Run around naked.

9. Share Hint of Lime chips with whoever happens to be eating.

10. Go for rides in the car or van to anywhere.
And now, here are ten blogs that make us smile every time we read them.

1.  Letters to Gavin  -- Wall E lives with his grandma while waiting to be reunited with his boy Gavin.  We love Wall E's take on the world and are glad he shares his letters!

2.  Therapy Dog Josie -- Josie is new to blogging, and she's a dedicated therapy dog.

3.  The Thundering Herd -- You never know what The Herd is going to be up to, but you always know it will be interesting and entertaining.

4. Wilf and Digby Discover France -- Wilf and Digby have lived in Ireland, Italy and are now enjoying the adventures of living in rural France.  The story of their dad being lured to the local art class is still giving me the giggles!

5.  Two Greyhound Town -- Jack and Scout put up with their mom sewing coats for them when they're not out camping or dreaming of camping.

6. Romping and Rolling in the Rockies -- Labradudes beware!  K is the most stunning labradudette that I have ever seen.  She and her mom have the most amazing adventures, just weeks after both going through surgery.

7. Dexter Doings -- Yes, we had to mention how much fun we've been having reading all of Dexter's adventures while his older brother Mango is running Mango Minster.  He's got a lot to say!

8. Multum In Parvo -- Salinger the pug is a hilarious guy who puts up with a lot from his family at times!  We're hoping he gets to be on stupid pet tricks on The Letterman Show!

9. Thoughts From A Yodeling Goatherder -- Things on the farm are never dull!  They're always darned funny to read about, too!

10. Life With Dogs -- I look for this one first every morning!  Nigel, Sola and Truffles make me laugh through their stories and photos every day.  I can't imagine that anybody hasn't read it yet, but they're missing out if they have!

We also just read the news about Max over on his blog.  We'd like his family to know that we're really thinking about them at this difficult time.  If you know Max in South Africa, please stop in and offer your words of encouragement.  I know how difficult what they're going through is from personal experience with my own heart dog, and I'm sure that hearing from others will help ease their hearts a bit.

Saturday Awards Post

Our friend Coco offered this award to her followers, including us, so we thought we would pass it along.  We're supposed to share five blogs that we enjoy.  I figured that a lot of the same blogs might be mentioned a lot, so we decided to try to name some that others might not know.

First is The Yodeling Goatherder.  You never know what you'll read about over there.  It might be dogs, steers, goats, chickens, ducks, turkeys or her crazy cat, but no matter what it is, it is always entertaining.  If you want a good chuckle, her blog is one to definitely visit.

Second, check our Mollie Jo and Bobo on Dog Eared.  They just took on nine chihuahuas who were in pounds in California.  I will warn you, however, that the cuteness of the puppies on their page may give you a toothache.

Bunny enjoys keeping track of what Jack is doing over on Two Greyhound Town.  He's a sweet greyhound and when he's not camping with his family, he's dreaming up other adventures.

Another blog that fascinates us is Romping and Rolling in the Rockies.  KB has the most beautiful chocolate labrador that I've ever seen, K, along with the happy go lucky black labrador, R.  The pictures on her blog alone will take your breath away.  They've recently been keeping track of a very large mountain lion near their house.  I think you'll find reading her blog inspiring.

Finally, we'll mention Emma Rose, the lovely border collie.  She is just a sweetheart and the antics of her little brother, Mr. Higgens, will charm you.  We think that you'll enjoy her adventures.

Hopefully, you'll find some interesting reading amongst them while most of us seem to be snowed in.  Also, if you haven't done so, we would love to have our guests add pictures to our guestbook at the bottom of our blog.  It's always fun to see the faces, furry or otherwise, who drop by to visit!
