Dear Santa...

Hello everyone!  Bunny here at the keyboard to share our moment with Santa.

I have to admit, I had some high hopes about going to see the big man.  I mean, it's a serious thing meeting Santa.  You get nervous and pee a little on his boot, and you're getting catnip for life every Christmas!

Lilac muttered something about the van being "an icebox from hell" and refused to go, so Blueberry, Morgan and I put on our best Christmas finery and headed off to the dog bakery where Santa was meeting dogs.  I heard there were two cats who showed up, too, but I didn't see them while we were there.  It was a long line, as you can imagine, and there were lots of dogs there waiting their turn to see the jolly old elf.

While we were waiting, a Bulldog showed up and kept threatening to eat Morgan.  I'm glad I warned her about being on your best behavior in front of Santa, because I'm pretty sure that Bulldog ended up on the Naughty list.  He was growling at everyone, right in front of Santa.

Finally, we got to our turn to see Santa.  Mom said we had to pose for a picture.  A picture?!  I showed up to read Santa my wish list, not pose for pictures.  Mom explained that for ten dollars, we'd get a picture with Santa and the money would go to help our local animal shelter, so I put on my best smile and got into place beside Blueberry.  Morgan sat beside him.  Then, it turns out, Santa was afraid to take our leashes!  I was amazed.  I mean, sure, if Morgan had been all Shepherdy and telling him to keep his hands off the princess, then I could understand, be we all wagged our tails and gave him our doe eyes.  Whoever heard that Santa was afraid of big dogs?

Well, soon it was over and we left after getting our pictures taken.  I was a little disappointed and Mom explained that he was really one of Santa's elves who must be having a bad day, but that she was proud of me for posing and doing my best.  We went to the front to pay for our picture and we got ornament dog treats.  Dad bought us some special snowflake cookies, too, since we did so well.

The day wasn't a total loss, though.  After we were done, we went to Petsmart.  We met a handsome Greyhound there named Brody and his owner gave us his e-mail address so we could meet up later when the weather gets better.  Blue and I were both glad we were wearing our stylish pink coats.  I also found something that I'm going to put at the top of my Christmas list.

Now I'm off to have visions of sugarplums!  I hope the real Santa will bring us something good.  What are all of you hoping for this Christmas?

Space Age Dogs

Bunny here writing about the experience Morgan and I had at the vet's office Tuesday afternoon.

I know, you're all thinking a trip to the vet never leads to anything good.  At first, we didn't know what was going on.  We'd gone from being all excited that Dad came home early to get us to feeling like we'd been a little mislead.  Then we saw Mom there, too!  She came over to the van to get me.  It turns out she came to meet us there at the vet's office.

We went in and had to wait for a few minutes.  Looking down that hallway was a little nerve-wracking.  I know that the elevator table of death is back there.

Sure enough, soon they called us back there and we both had to get up on the elevator table of death.  Dad told them not to make it go up in the air with me and it would be fine, so they didn't.  Morgan rode up higher than I did.

It seemed like we both barely had to stand on that table and they were taking us off there.  I felt a tiny touch on my neck and it was over.  Morgan and I both got microchipped, so now we always have our licenses with us if we'd get separated from our pack and need to get back.  So, now I'm a Greyhound with a Facebook account, a blog and a microchip.  I'm one high tech puppy!

Afterwards, Mom and Dad took us to My Dog's Bakery.  One of the German Shepherds named Mirage was in there.  She's only a month older than Morgan.  I think Morgan would really have liked to have been able to play with her.  They even took our pictures to put up on their Facebook wall.  I guess we're local celebrities or something!

It gets even better!  After we picked out our treats at the dog bakery and Mom found me a very snazzy
leather collar with a rhinestone buckle at their sidewalk sale, we went to Culver's and got to share Mom's fried cheese curds.  It was really a very nice day!

I highly endorse getting microchipped.  It's was great fun for me, and it could lead you back home if you should ever lose track of your people.  Not that I ever let them out of my sight, but just in case!  We hope we'll never need to use it, but we'd rather have them and not need them than need them and not have them.  If anybody is worried about it hurting, neither Morgan or I ever even flinched.  It was a teeny, tiny little thing and they put it right in my back.  I guess this means Mom and Dad are keeping us and can't get rid of us now!

Shopping -- The Perfect Cure to Cabin Fever

Bunny here, writing about my lastest adventure.  We've been cooped up here way too long with all this cold and snow.  To make matters worse, Mom went back to work last week and that left me with even less to do.  Fortunately, since we needed supplies for Blueberry's birthday party, we took a trip to My Dog's Bakery and got a little cure for our cabin fever.

Hmmm... I think I need to taste these!  Quality control, you know!

Blueberry thinks we need some of these, and since she's the almost birthday girl, you'd better get some.

I really need some new toys!  You know, most of mine are getting worn out.

Oh, and my bed is really getting worn out!

Surprisingly, there was only the girl working in the store to pet me!  That was a bit disappointing.  Of course, when we got back to the van, we were supposed to smile for the camera.  I will let the next few pictures speak for themselves about what happened.

Honestly, you just can't take some dogs anywhere!  Lilac waits in the van and makes Blueberry and me do all the shopping, then she eats the treats!  What's up with that?  Mom says that she gets away with it because she's an old lady.  It sounds suspicious to me.  Still, it was nice to get out of the house and the treats we got smell delicious!  They say we can't have them until the birthday party, though.  I can hardly wait!

Oh, I hear somebody coming!  I have to go!
