The Dog And Pony Show

I've said that we had company this week.  Emma and Jackson have been a lot of fun to have around, but Mr. Taleteller and I have decided that five dogs would be too much work for us on a regular basis. 

One interesting dynamic has been between Bunny and Jackson.  Bunny really is a sweet, dainty little thing.  Jackson is more like a bull in a china closet.  Their size is quite different, too.  Bunny is small for a greyhound.  Jackson is huge for a greyhound.  As a matter of fact, Bunny can easily walk under him.  They are close in age, Bunny turned three in November and Jackson will be four next month. 

Bunny has really missed having dogs to play with while she's been living here.  Blueberry will break down and play with her, but it has to be on Blue's terms and whims.  You would think that Jackson would fit the bill.

Jackson first tried to get her to play the second day they were here.  He jumped on our bed with her, bounded around and took off running.  She followed him and I think she was going to play at first.  However, she quickly learned that he was a big galoot and he was acting like an uncivilized wild man.  The next thing I knew, he'd brought out the junkyard dog in my sweet little puppy. 

Jackson:  Let's play!  Let's play!  Let's play!

Bunny:  Then run, why don't you?!

Jackson:  Let me show you my stallion impression!  (as he rears up like a horse on his back legs)

Bunny:   Not just no, but heck no!  BACK OFF!

After that little incident, I thought they'd keep their distance.  I believe Bunny had all intention of doing just that.  However, Jackson isn't the sort of fellow to take no for an answer.  He attempted, in his own clumsy way, to turn up the charm even more.  While he's growled a little a Lilac for getting too close while he was laying on the couch when I was sitting there as well, he's completely tolerated Bunny climbing right over him to sit beside me.  She does seem willng to tolerate him when he's not jumping around and acting like a fool.

When Bunny returned home with Mr. Taleteller after her visit to school with me, Jackson went wild with joy upon her return.  She let him know in no uncertain terms that she was NOT playing, he was NOT going to schmooze her daddy and that she could take him out. 

Still, after all that, he seems determined to make friends with her.  I'm not sure if he'll win her over or not, but I think she might be weakening.  It's been an interesting and entertaining week.  I learned things about all three of my girls that I didn't know before, that's for sure!

Road Trip

Bunny here, writing about my adventure yesterday and sharing some exciting news.

It started out like a normal Sunday morning.  Mom and Dad got up and started moving around, getting ready to go, but then Mom pulled out one of my fancy collars.  I got really excited!  Changing collars means we're going somewhere.  I was more than ready to go!  I began to wonder if having to take a bath on Saturday had something to do with this.

We got loaded up in the van and drove for a long time.  That's okay with me!  I like long drives and I love being with Mom and Dad.  I was a happy camper.  Blueberry was happy to go, too!  Lilac was very happy to stay home.  Everybody was happy!

I got excited when I saw this sign and thought that we'd gone somewhere swanky to eat, but it turned out to just be a big tease.  They don't even let dogs in there!  They serve certain pork products.

Then we arrived at a big blue house.  My nose twitched.  I recognized that smell.  It's the smell of our favorite bunny toys!  Oh, I was so thrilled!  I couldn't believe that Mom and Dad would be so thoughtful as to drive me to Mother Bunny's hutch to pick out my own bunny.  How wrong I was!  We picked up something else entirely different!

They will be staying with us for the next week while their mom has to travel far away.  I hope they like to play!   Action Jackson has some very long legs.  I hope that means he can keep up with me!  Emma liked riding in the little seat.

I prefer relaxing where I can stretch out!

It was a fun trip home, but now I've got to go keep an eye on things!
