It's hard to believe that another Spring break is over for me, but it is. We packed a lot of fun into these past three weeks. I got to do some things that I've wanted to do for a long time. This break makes up a lot for last year when we had rain every day. After a brutal winter here, we were finally able to get out and enjoy the nice weather this year.
No doubt there will be one sad little greyhound as I leave for work. All three of the girls will be a bit sad, but Bunny always shows it the most. Blueberry will watch me cautiously as I go through the usual morning routine. Lilac will be asleep again. Apparently getting up at oh dark thirty wears an old lady out. As if it weren't hard enough to sleep around our house, our neighbors now have a Siberian puppy that they are trying to housebreak, right outside our bedroom window, at ungodly hours. I never thought there'd be a dog with a worse schedule than our little old lady, but I think we've met her match. Although honestly, the puppy isn't as bad as the neighbors.
Anyway, I digress. In some ways, it will be nice to get back to my usual routine, but in others, it's tough. Getting up early and getting ready for work isn't as much fun as getting up and reading blogs at my leisure. We'll try to get around to read still, but you'll probably see us at different times. I also can't promise that we'll have a post every day, but we'll try!
The greatest thing about break is really just the small details of life that I get to slow down and enjoy. Bunny comes back to bed with me for a while, or Blueberry stretches out on the couch in the morning so we can have our own alone time. There are also the moments when Lilac comes over to stick her nose under my arm as I type on the computer to let me know that she's still here. Being able to take a walk whenever we like is such a joy, or even a spontaneous trip to the dog park, or packing up and taking the girls for a hike somewhere that we normally don't get to go are all small luxuries of being on break.
However, one truth is, if it were that way every day, I wouldn't savor it the way I do now. It's like coins of gold slipping through my fingers now, not something that I'm able to take for granted. I appreciate work because it gives us money and because it gives us these golden moments to cherish. However, today, I'm really not loving my job! Maybe on Friday afternoon...

Sounds like something I used to be once upon a time!
Hugz&Khysses,
Khyra
The greeting you get tonight will be epic.
ReplyDeleteHave a great first day back. We dogs don't like it when our humans go off to work, but of course, supporting us in the style to which we've become accustomed means someone has to do it.
ReplyDeletewags, Lola
The Herd would not even know what to do with three entire weeks of non-stop spoiling. On second thought, they would consider that appropriate.
ReplyDeleteI wish work days were just 6 hours.... life would be so much more doable and enjoyable if I could just cut it back to 6 hours a day.
ReplyDeleteI bet you get a HUGE reception when you get home this evening!
ReplyDeleteAs one who does not get to enjoy a spring break, let me say you just nailed my every-Sunday sentiments. :)
ReplyDeleteEvery day is Spring Break/Sunday at my house. I made my mom become betired.
ReplyDeleteBummer - that *was* fast. On the bright side though, summer break is only few weeks off..okay, perhaps more than just a few. But it is just around the corner, something to look forward to. :)
ReplyDeleteSummer is right around the corner!!
ReplyDeleteHang in there Smileys!
Dory

There are never enough hours in the day. We gave up trying to post every day. Work is such a necessary evil :) I heard there are some people that LOVE to go to work every day! I can't even imagine. Who would choose a job over a fur kid? Oh, they might not know about the love of a fur kid, huh? Pity them :(
ReplyDeleteHang in there - summer is coming!
Kisses,
Emma Rose

What I got from reading this is that you really appreciated and enjoyed your post and that poor Bunny will make sure you don't forget that you had to go back to work. Well, Bunny is quite unique.
ReplyDeleteDon't worry girls. You just need to appreciate more, just like your momma said
Twinkie
It's always hard to go back, no matter how long you've been off. But soon the routine takes over. May your transition back be smooth and painless! I love that pic of the dogs and the alpacas -- Bunny looks like she really want to check them out up close and personal!
ReplyDeletewe predict lots of slobbers waiting for you when you get home. think about that all day and the day should be tons better
ReplyDeleteBreaks are so nice, they just make it that much harder to go back to work. I do like that picture of the pooches with the Alpacas...
ReplyDeleteSpring is our busy time. I would be outside right now if I wasn't covered in poison ivy! I have been ordered to stay out of the sun until I finish up the steroids. I start to look forward to winter and the slowness of life around August, but I tire of my hibernation by the end of January........
