The Gauntlet Has Been Thrown

Bunny here at the keyboard writing about a challenge that has been thrown my way.

My friend Pip has challenged me to a race.  He says that he's in top shape and working out even more since the New Year started.  We've had a little friendly rivalry before, but now the gauntlet has been thrown.  You can all bet that I am going to rise to this challenge and represent for Greyhounds everywhere!

Pip has asked Roo to be his coach, so I figured I'd better get serious about this training business.  So, I have asked Puddles to be my coach.  She assures me that she can help me get in shape in time for Race Day on February 5.  Don't worry, she will not be giving up her beer or cheetos or taking up any kind of healthy lifestyle.  She'll just be coaching me from her laundry basket.

On February 5, Pip and I will have our big race.  I hope that you'll all come to see the race that day and cheer me on.  If you'd care to make a wager, that option might be open later, too.  Here are two videos so you can start making your predictions now.

Be sure to come by on February 5 and see who wins the race!  Feel free to use the banner or this button on your blog if you like.  One right click does it all!

One last note, if you don't mind.  If you are friends with Golden Boy Luke, please stop over at Scout and Freya's blog for a very important message about something you can do for him.  It seems that sadly, the Luke is in his last days, but there's something special that we can all do for him and you can find all about it over there at their blog.

  1. Boy, the odds makers in Vegas must be frantic over this race! We figure if Pip wins, it will be because Bunny ran the course so fast she was a blur and crossed the finish line a second behind Pip on her 7th circuit, which was the first time she slowed down enough to be seen. What are the ante-post odds?

  2. Hahah Bunny, Barbie says she would be your training partner, as she is currently training for an endurance event she would like to keep her top speed up.

Barbie also wants to know what kind of handicaps will be involved... does Bunny have to carry a jockey?

PS - my captcha was 'undies' hahah

  6. Wow, this is going to be a close one! I'm not normally a betting doggy, but I have to look at the point spread. Oh, Franklin tells me that's football, not racing. Sorry.

Well, I want to thank you for your good wishes and I will not miss this Race of the Century for anything.

  8. We just read about this exciting event over at Puddles!
She was hard at work in her role as coach! Well actually she appeared to be sleeping in a wash basket but we could have been mistaken.
Good luck with the training Bunny.

  18. Oh my... just found out about this from Pip! Must say - you have most excellent acceleration as well as deceleration skills. As a matter of fact, we see nothing but runnin' skills in your corner. It's tough to be pals wit both of you! We'll tune in 2/5 - you have a great coach heheh!

  19. Oh, Bunny. I really kinda wish you hadn't taken on this challenge. I mean, it's PIP we're talking about. I don't know how you're ever gonna be able to keep up. Although I am Most Relieved that you chose Puddles as your coach. That should help but still...

I'm wishing you all the luck in the world, my furend. I'm afraid you're gonna need it.

  21. I've studied the form of both contestants. Pip seems to be saving himself for the big race. Got a sneaky feeling he might even be trying to physche you out Bunny.

Now Bunny there's no doubt you are built for speed. Just remeber the tale of the Hare and Tortoise.

Sure on the day it is going to be a close thing, so I think it will go to a photo finish:)

  22. Exciting, it's going to be a great race!

  23. Uh, Bunny? Are you sure this is a fair race? You being a GREYHOUND and all? We think, to make it more fair, you should race on your hind legs only! ;)

  32. Our card went in the mail this morning for Luke, Bleu, and their Mom - such a very sad time. But a wonderful time for all of us to surround them with love.

This will be quite the race. Bunny, you sure do run fast, but Pip just might have a lot more in him than you think. We can't wait to see the outcome.

  33. Thanks for the tip about satin balls. Been there, done that, and failed. He just won't eat them, won't even try them. He has a very stubborn streak, goes along with being a sibe. We just keep trying everything we can. But thanks, we do appreciate the thought.
