Sweet Revenge

If you've followed our blog for a bit, you know that Lilac does not believe in letting us sleep past 4:00 or 4:30 in the morning.  On a good day she sleeps until 5:00.  I should also mention that she doesn't just wake up, she barks until someone gives in and takes her out and she makes sure that Bunny and Blueberry have to go out there with her, too.  It makes for some painful mornings for us, but most of us, okay, all of us excluding Lilac, go back to sleep and carry on with life.  Since she's fourteen and a half, we count ourselves blessed that she's still with us and choose to view this habit as one of her old lady quirks.

Anyhow, yesterday the tables were turned.  Mr. Taleteller was invited to go with his youngest brother and his dad on a field trip to Chicago with the junior high school jazz band that his brother is a member of.  Going on the trip meant that Mr. Taleteller had to leave extremely early this morning.  It was so early that I didn't even hear him leave.  I know that Bunny had come back to bed and crawled under the blankets with me.

When I did get up, I staggered through the kitchen to get my water and saw a sticky note from my husband.  It had a smiley face on it and read "Lilac was mad because I woke her up.  I recieved look of death.  It was worth it!"  I had to laugh, because I could just picture the scene in my mind.

Ah, Lilac, at least you had all day to catch up on your sleep!

  4. Sorries that we've been so belated at visiting - blame it on my lazy asst.! That was a funny note your dad left, Lilac! I can believe that you awaken so early, but that's definitely OK - especially for "women of that certain age..." (like my assistant heheh.) Bless you, dear girl!

  5. OMD I didn't realize Lilac was that much of a senior citizen! Our Mason is 12 and he does the 4:30 thing too. The bad news is I never sleep in, the good news is by the time I go to work is seems "late"!

  8. Ahhhh Lilac! Now you know what it feels like to be woken up before it's time to start the day.

    Maybe you should reconsider....?

But no, of course not :)

  9. Lilac - a girl needs her beauty sleep. As for 5.00 am starts - that leaves plenty of time in the day for tickles.

  14. Heee, I think that's hilarious!! Lilac, payback isn't pretty, is it? Heee! I just wish we could have had better weather in the city yesterday for Mr. Taleteller's visit -- it's been overcast and rainy for a few days now. I'm sure he'll survive the Lilac look of death though!

  16. So funny! Our dogs like to wake us up early in the morning, but they like to go to sleep really early. They are usually quite annoyed if we do anything to disturb their early bedtime.

  20. Loooved this one. We're still laughing with the note!!! Yes, we were aware of Lilac's habit and this made it even funnier.
And I also want you to know that I may not be stopping by all the time, but I cherish the comments and of course I pay attention to them. I therefore uploaded the audio you requested and I'm glad you enjoyed it.

  22. Oh, Lilac, our Emmy gets us all up very early, too. I go out with her every time, cause I am nice, you know. Oscar will sometimes growl at us if Gramma tries to take him out, too. Emmy and Oscar are getting old, too. Gramma says it is good for them to have me around.
