Resolutions For A New Year

Bunny here at the keyboard, recording our resolutions for this year.

We debated about doing resolutions, but in the end, decided that we'd give it a shot.  It's a fun time to reflect on what you want to do with your life, and we all have dreams.  So, I convinced my sisters to let me share their resolutions with you and I added mine, too!

Blueberry says she resolves to be even more perfect and to worry Mom and Dad less this year.  (insert rolling eyeballs)  She says she's going to focus on her health and keeping in shape so she can keep up with me and Morgan on our outings.

Morgan resolves not to break any more windows.  She says that she makes no resolutions about not breaking toys or unstuffing stuffies.  There are limits to what she can withstand.  She is also going to try to loosen up a little.  (Ha!)

Lilac says, ahem, that she's "damned near perfect" and doesn't need to make any resolutions.  I tried to convince her, but it was a no go.  She did say that she's planning on seizing life with both paws and making the most of it, though.

I resolve to be the best me I can be this year.  I'm going to try my hardest to keep Mom and Dad in shape by getting them out on those hiking trails more this year.  I'm also going to work on challenging myself to try more new things and meeting more people so they can have the opportunity to pet me.

So, there you have our New Year's resolutions.  We'd like to wish all of you a happy, healthy and prosperous 2011!  What are your resolutions for this year?

We're participating in this Saturday's Pet Blog Hop, hosting by Life With Dogs, Two Little Cavaliers and Confessions of the Plume.  If you'd like to participate, please follow the rules and follow your three hosts, add your blog to the Linky and copy and paste the html code into your html editor.  Thanks again to our hosts for putting on the hop

Happy New Year!

As we begin the new year, I'm trying to think of ways to look forward.  There are things I want to accomplish this year as we move forward with life.  I guess January first is as good a time as any to think of what those things will be.  I'm facing a lot of uncertainty in the very near future as we wait to see if the teachers and administration in the school district where I work will come to a resolution or if there will be a strike.  I greatly fear a strike for a lot of reasons.  A most pressing one is that if the teachers go on strike, the district will most likely shut down, meaning that none of us will get paid.  If they don't shut down, that brings about a bunch of other issues, such as will I be asked to do work that isn't what I'm supposed to be doing.  In any event, I'm finding that looking at some of these longer term goals are helping me to look past the immediate scary future and into where I want to be at this time next year.

One goal I have is to finally bite the bullet and take a therapy dog certification test with Bunny.  Treat was a certified TDI dog, but I'd like to test with Delta this time if at all possible.  I feel that they're better for us personally and I also want to be able to participate in READ, which TDI doesn't support.  If I'm really honest, Bunny won't be the one who has trouble passing the test.  It will be me.  I'm a terrible test taker and I freely admit that.  I have no doubt that Bunny will do wonderfully as long as I stay relaxed on the other end of the leash.  So, after we've saved up a bit of money to take the test, we'll be making ourselves official.

Another thing I have to do is start walking more often.  I imagine that Bunny will be more than happy to help me in this endeavor.  Treat hounded me to walk every day when she was alive and I got in pretty good shape walking with her.  Bunny wants to walk, as well, but I've gotten out of the habit.  I've had some health issues that make breathing difficult for me at times, but now that some of that seems to be settling down, I need to get back out there.  Bunny, I know you can get me out there!  As the weather improves, I will get out there and get moving.  I want to be a person who resembles her dog again.

I'm sure there are other things I should do, too, but realisitcally, I don't want to overwhelm myself and make it impossible.  If we can accomplish those two things, I'll be much happier.  Now I just have to cross my fingers and hope that I'll get to go back to work after our winter break is over!

Resolutions From Bunny

Bunny here, taking over the keyboard for a bit!  I hear that New Year's is the time to make resolutions and turn over new leaves.  I thought I'd give it a shot!  So, here are my resolutions for the new year.

1.  I resolve to perfect my sweet, innocent face.  I suspect that this will lead to more petting.  This can only be a good thing.

2. I resolve to finally teach Mom to take me for long walks every day.  She's been rather lax about this.  I hope to whip her into shape on this issue soon!

3.  I resolve to give my stuffies more of a work out.  Some of them are getting a bit flabby around the middle.  This must mean that they need more exercise.  I won't let those toys get lazy!

4.  I resolve to finally get that hole dug to China.  A hound needs to see the world, after all, and China is as good a place to start as any!

5.  I resolve to find the perfect hiding place for my midday kibble stash.  Blueberry keeps finding it, and this simply won't do.  I will find a place that nobody else will discover!

So, there you have my resolutions!  I'm curious to hear what other hounds and humans are resolving to do this year.  Feel free to let me know, or mention things you think I may have left out.  I can always add to the list!
