Put Your Paws Together For The Luke

Bunny here with a short note today.  We usually save Wednesdays to be wordless, and we do have a wordless post up today, too, but I have something important to say, so I decided to slip a few words in anyway.  I do hope you all understand.

Back in the second week of November, we were stunned when we found out that my sister, Blueberry, had cancer.  We really thought it would just be a silly little knot on her head that we'd joke about later.  Of course you all know that it didn't turn out to be a silly knot -- it was a serious knot with cancer in it.  Before we knew Blueberry had any of those cells inside her, we were cheering on our friend The Luke as he fought his brave battle with cancer.  By the time he'd finished his last treatment, we were cheering for him because it gave us hope that Blue would beat her cancer, too.

If you know The Luke, you know that he's a fun loving Golden Retriever with a big heart for his mom and his brother, The Bleu.  He faces all the challenges in life with a quiet dignity and courage that we all admire here.  Whether it's scary storms, fighting cancer, or just putting up with the mystery narrator following him around with the camcorder, he takes it all in stride.  He's one of our heros!

We just learned that The Luke may not be done fighting his battle with cancer.  His mom is probably just beside herself.  I was just hoping that maybe you'd all offer The Luke the Power of the Paw that has made us feel so uplifted in the last weeks.  If you would drop him a line and let him know you're thinking of him and saying a little prayer or wishing on a star for him, I think it would make him feel a lot better!

To The Luke, we're thinking of you and have our paws crossed for the very best for you!  We know that you can beat the cancer and that the Love Protocol will help conquer all things.  Remember that we're cheering for you and that we admire you tons for what a brave and wonderful boy you are!

Letters to Santa -- Morgan

I mentioned yesterday that I'd found the girls' letters to Santa and thought I'd share them.  I suspect that Bunny added a few notes here and there as she took most of the dictation.  I guess I should just be glad that she's not teaching everyone to type.

Dear Santa,

It's me Morgan.  I hope you remember me.  I lived in a different place last year, and now I have a new home.  I promise that I have been very good in both places.  I've tried my best, anyway.  My new family needs a lot of protecting, and I am the Shepherd for the job.  I promise not to bite you, especially after Bunny and I had a little chat about how you bring presents and treats.  Since I don't want her to be disappointed, I promised to let you in.

As for things I want, well, I'd like some things that help make my job as family protector a bit easier.  I need some personal body alarms to keep on Mom and Dad at all times, and batteries that will keep them running safely.  If you could send some that lock on around their ankles and can't be removed for any reason, that would be helpful, too!  I also need a bubble wrap suit for Bunny.  She runs so fast at the dog park that I can't keep up with her, and it would help keep other dogs from jumping on her in those few seconds that I can't catch up to her.  I try to keep those other dogs at bay, but you know, they just don't respect the fact that Bunny is royalty and other dogs can't just be jumping around on her.  I need a Wolf Pack for Blueberry so she can go hiking with us next Spring and I can keep an eye on her and not lose her on the trails.  Also, I carry the GPS in my pack on our hikes, but I am thinking I might sneak it  into Blue's pack when she's not looking and then I could keep track of her if I need to.  As far as Lilac goes, please, please, get her a new fan in case the other one dies and that Potty Patch.  I hold my breath every time she goes down those back steps.  Hmmm...  On second thought, you better send me two bubble wrap suits.

I'd like to assure you that I have been a good girl all year, even though things didn't work out at my last home.  I've tried my very best!  Just between you and me, I already got my best present back in June when I found my new home.  It's the perfect place for me and I love my new job protecting and loving all of them!  Thank you, Santa!  You knew just what I needed.

Love,
Morgan

P.S.  Santa, Morgan really wants some toys, a few chewy things and some dog treats from the bakery!  She won't say that, but I know she wants some.  Oh, and just between you and me, she needs a red Tummy Warmer.  It's not for all the time, but if we go out on some Winter adventures, well, she needs to stay warm out there on the trails!

Letters to Santa -- Blueberry

It seems that while Mr. Taleteller and I were busy with two big family Christmas parties this weekend that the girls decided to write letters to Santa.  I'm guessing that Bunny took dictation from a few of them.  When I found the letters, I thought it would be fun to share them.  So, today we start off with Blueberry's letter to Santa.

Dear Santa,

I have had a pretty good year, until last month.  Having surgery on your head and finding out you have cancer can sure change your perspective.  Things that seemed really important before aren't as important as I thought they were.  So, while I've been reflecting, here is what I would like for Christmas this year.

Lilac really doesn't like going outside to go to the bathroom these days, and she's driving Mom and Dad a bit crazy about it.  Do you think you could bring her one of those Potty Patches?  Or perhaps convince Dad to let her wear boots outside whenever she goes?  They have to be boots that are easy to get on really fast, though, since she doesn't have a lot of warning when things are locked and loaded in the pooper hole, if you know what I mean.

Morgan needs a vacation from watching the windows for invaders.  She works so hard to protect us, but it must wear her out.  I know watching her run around wears me out!  Whew!   Between you and me, I guess I'm not as young as I used to be.

Bunny will be happy with anything you bring her.  Just please don't forget her.  I'll never hear the end of it if you do!  She'll worry herself near to death if she thinks there's someone in the world who doesn't like her.  Make sure whatever you get is sparkly, girly and pink!

As for me, I'd just like you to arrange it so Mom and Dad have more time to take me places and choose to take me on those fun outings they go on with Bunny and Morgan.  I know I said I wasn't as young as I used to be, but I'm not dead yet!  I like to go, and I am always well behaved.  I'd also like an extra Tummy Warmer, so I could put the one I got in the wash and still be warm in the house.  It feels like the North Pole here, so you can imagine that I need to stay warm!

Thank you,
Blueberry

P.S.  Santa, Blueberry won't say so, but she'd really like some stuffies, gourmet dog treats and a snowflake ID tag, too!

Wishing And Hoping

Bunny here at the keyboard, writing about what's on my Christmas list.

Last weekend, we were at Petsmart when I saw an item that I thought would make a great Christmas present.  I might add that it has been so cold that you have to keep moving while your taking care of certain private business or you'll find yourself frozen to the ground by a yellow icicle.  Seriously, it's just too darned cold!  Mom says that this is just the beginning since Winter hasn't officially even started yet and we have several more months of this weather.  Anyroo, this brings my back to the first item on my list.

Was the man who invented this a genius or what?  Lilac says she wants one, too, and that she's not wasting her time on Santa.  She's just going to bark at Mom and Dad until they get her one.  I'm not sure I am willing to interrupt my nap schedule to bark at them nonstop, so I'll leave that to Lilac.

It seems to me that this is only fair.  It's not like Mom or Dad is out there facing the indignity of frostbite on their well-muscled little butts.  Oh no!  They send us sweet, innocent little hounds out there to face the elements.  After that fake Santa incident, I think I've been a good enough girl that I should get this one thing that I'm asking for.

So, what's on your Christmas list?
