Don't Mess With The Old Lady

Bunny here, writing about our trip to the dog park Sunday to celebrate Mom's birthday.

Since it was Mom's big day, she said she wanted to spend it with all of us together.  So, she convinced Lilac to join us in the fun.  It's been a bit rainy here lately, so we decided to go to the fancy park in Pekin instead of our other favorite park, since it gets really muddy.

We arrived at the park, and I did do some fast laps around the park to get things started.  There were quite a few dogs there.  One of them was a very forward little Jack Russell mix and another was a young intact Pit Bull.  The Jack Russell was trying hard to keep up with me, so I wasn't paying attention too closely to Lilac.  Plus, there were some kids there who really wanted to pet me!  I always have to make time for being petted.

All I know is that suddenly, she went cracker dog on that little Pit Bull.  Only, the scene was rather comical.  Lilac has a really deep bark, and when she barks, it always sounds like a German Shepard who means business.  However, her back legs often get rather tired, so while the front half of her went after the annoying and rather forward young dog, the back half wobbled over to the side.

Dad went over right away and got her and walked her away.  The silly, lovestruck Pit Bull, kept following after them.  Mom walked over a little later and got Lilac on her leash and kept her with her, and when that foolish dog came over again, Mom gently, but sternly pushed him away.  His owner never did do anything with him.  After a while, Mom let Lilac off her leash again, because she thought Lilac was going to lay down, but that litte nitwit came over again, and Lilac let him have it.  She sounded like a Dog of War!  I was completely impressed that a little old lady dog could sound so serious!  After that, the dog wandered off.

We played for a little while longer, but there were a few dogs who weren't playing nice, so we decided to call it a day at the dog park.  We leashed up and headed out.  It was good timing, since it started to rain after we got all situated in the van.  We saw the Pit Bull being lead out with two other dogs and he kept looking our way.  I guess unrequited love is tough to take!  I know that I'm not going to push my luck with Lilac anytime soon.

  5. Good for Lilac. Don't mess with old ladies, I always say. You could be in for a huge surprise. The video was so exciting. I guess no one in the whole world can touch greyhounds for zoomies, but I'd love to do a couple of laps with you sometime anyway. You could go around twice for my once - and it would still be way fun.

  17. Whew! Your videographer couldn't even keeps up with you cuz you're so blurry fast! I'm glad that Lilac put that forward dog in his place. Sometimes we girlies have to do that when the boys won't gets the message.

My mom says it bothers her when peoples bring their un-fixed dogs to the dog park. There's lotsa male dogs like my Brudder Ranger who don't like un-fixed male dogs and it can starts trouble. And the owner shoulda done something for sure. Sigh. Peoples can be very much annoying sometimes.

But I am glad YOU had a good time!

    Happy Cheezeday!

  24. Here the screaming monkey is sold as a 'babouin jeune- the yellow baboon - somehow makes it more exotic to play with.
