I Want To Drive To Buffalo...

I wish that I had the talent to do videos like this one.  This video makes me want to go to Buffalo and adopt this adorable little greyhound!  I'm sure there would be a few girls here at my house who would object to us bringing another adorable girl here, though.

What I like about this video is that it's a very clever and innovative way to get people interested in greyhound adoption.  There are tens of thousands of racing greyhounds looking for homes every year which makes the need to draw attention to them very important.  Not everybody has the ability to donate money to help, but some people can foster, others can help care for the dogs in the kennels or do meet and greets on the weekends.  Then there are people who make these videos and draw attention.  Everybody involved is usually a volunteer.  I love that it brings out the best in people.  Anyhow, this adoption group has made a series of videos, but the one starring Silky Socks is their newest, and I just thought it was too cute not to share!

We hope that everyone has a great weekend!  We'll be scarce since I'll be out celebrating my birthday, but we'll be back around next week.  I am not sure if it's a good or bad thing that I'm still expected to celebrate my birthday separately with each of my parents, but it does make for a busy weekend.

We're also participating in the blog hop this weekend! Hopefully it will be as much fun as last weekend.

  2. Videos are a clever way to get potential dog owner's attention and I am sure those dogs are adopted very quickly. Videos really do help the viewer's learn about the dog's personality and I think the idea is a brilliant way to showcase dog's who would otherwise be waiting for a long time to be adopted.
I agree that your dogs might not want another greyhound in their lives at this point but it sure is tempting to adopt a dog as cute as the one on this blog post!

  4. We are seeing more movies from the dog orphanages. It is a great way to show people all the sweet pups waiting for furever homes. Some pups just don't photograph well, but an action video will seal the deal.

  5. Laughing - I am with Khyra. With all of those effects, I was convinced the hat toss was coming. It is an excellent video and well beyond my skills.

Totally agree about rescue and the excellent work done. Have to say that with a house full of rescues of a different, but challenging breed.

    Have a Happy Birthday.

  8. Firstly, happy birthday to YOU!

Secondly, my mom was also a teensy bit sad that Miss Silky Socks didn't toss her hat in the air. But her cuteness made up for it for sure! My mom says she wishes she could makes movies like that, too. She has lotsa ideas but is a teensy bit thin on the know-how part.

We hopes Miss Silky Socks gets adopted real soon!

  11. Happy birthday! Blog Mom also wanted to see the hat tossed in the air. What's up with that? We both think it's disgusting that humans can use an animal for gain, whether in racing or breeding or whatever, and then just discard the animal when his or her usefulness in that area is over. We think there oughta be a law. Or 50 laws - one in every state.
