Ouchie Mama

Bunny here, with a little tale to tell.

Mom mentioned the other day that we went to the vet for a visit.  I like going in there.  They fuss over me, they have a cat buffet and they help me stay healthy.  However, there is one thing that I do not like about going in there.  That would be the elevator table.

You have to get on the table, then they tie you to a hook and it goes up.  I did what I was supposed to do until it came time for them to trim my nails.  When the vet tech picked up one of my feet, I slipped and my leg fell off the table.  They caught me and quickly picked me back up.  I didn't fuss or anything.  No self-respecting greyhound would!

Well, Saturday afternoon it was rainy and grey.  I curled up with Mom on the couch.  I wasn't feeling my best.  You know how it is the day after you get shots.  I wasn't miserable or anything, but we couldn't go for a walk, because I don't have a good raincoat that fits me, and it was chilly and just a blah day.  Mom got up to get something in the kitchen and I rolled over to have my belly rubbed.  That's when she saw it.  I have several ouchies on my leg from falling on the table.

Mom made a big fuss over me, rubbing my tummy and gently inspecting my scrapes.  I batted my eyelashes at her.  Honestly, it didn't hurt, but I enjoyed the attention.  She gave me a little treat and snuggled me a little.  Then she even ordered me a raincoat!  In just a few days I'll be able to walk in any weather!  I suppose a little scrape is worth it when retail therapy is involved.  I also got to use her leg for a pillow all day and she covered me up with a blanket and fluffed the pillows for me.  That vet visit is really paying off!

  3. Oh dear. That sounds bad. When I get my nails done the vet lady just gets on the floor with me. Maybe next time you can try that. Feel better.

  6. Oh WOW! Our vet has an elevator table too, but we've never seen it in action! Mom just plops my chunky PugButt up on the table.

Next time...I'm totally demanding an elevator ride!

I hope your leggy is better soon. Maybe mom can put a Barbie band aid or some nice pink gauzey wrap on you!

  11. Milking it for all it's worth, huh Bunny!! Heeee! Seriously, I hope your scrapes get better real quick. It's no fun having scrapes, plus it's a bit unsightly on such a pretty girl as you!

  12. Oh NO! I hope you will be all better soon! With a fancy table like that the vet should spring for some rubber mats to place on it so leggy greyhounds don't slip off!

    Gentle ear scritches!

  13. Way to milk it, Bunny. Our vet just plops down in the floor with us, so we never get up on any table. But we still get lots of belly rubs, and ear scratches. No cats, though we ask.

P.S. - Our word of the day was "racers". Thought that was perfect for Greyhounds.

  15. Oof! I know stainless steel is excellent for sanitation reasons but you'd think they could put a non-slip gripper on that table for you long legged beauties.

Hope your ouchies are getting better each day. That was sure nice of your mom to treat you to some retail therapy and all that extra TLC.

Ask mom to give you some ear rubs from me. =)

  20. Milk it, Bunny! Good job. As for the elevator table, I'm impressed. Our vet picks us up, regardless of size. She even picks up Linguini. I love my vet.
