Bunny here, writing about a few discoveries I've made about life with my new sister.
I was pretty excited to bring Morgan home with us. I figured she was really just like me underneath with just bigger ears and a longer coat. It turns out that I may have been mistaken about that.
We went shopping Sunday night at Petsmart. Blueberry and I went with Mom while Morgan went with Dad. It turns out that German Shepards don't shop like Greyhounds. Blueberry and I like to drift down the aisles, inspecting the goods. Some of it smells good, so we spend some extra time checking that out. Morgan kept herding us all back together. I told her that I'm just fine. We went into the next aisle with Mom and then saw Dad being pulled down the aisle when Morgan almost lost sight of us. She seems to have a compulsion about knowing where we all are all the time.
Then, we went down to Grandma and Grandpa's house. They heard about Morgan and really wanted to meet her. So, we went down after our shopping to say hello. I had to introduce Morgan to everybody because it turns out that she doesn't trust just anybody. I'll have to explain what being famous means to her later. I'm sure she'll love it once she figures out what it all means. Of course, she may be hired on as my bodyguard by then.
While we were down there, we decided to to out in the back yard and stretch our legs. I had a lesson for Morgan out there. I'll let the video explain it for me.
I think I'm going to like having her for a sister. One thing I do need to find out is where German Shepards do their shopping. Morgan won't wear the same collars and frippery as we Greyhounds, but she wants to look good, too. Do any of you have any favorite places to shop?

Oh my gosh! didn't i guess a new pup? How LUCKY for you! GSD's rule! (well so do GH's!) she looks fun and sweet. and yes, they are highly pack oriented and some are not trusting of new people right away. also don't forget, she's new with YOU, so she won't feel comfy with strangers around you just yet. I tend to think shyness with strangers is not the worst thing in the world for the same reasons that you wouldn't want a child to be too friendly with strangers--there are weirdos with bad intentions out there and you just never know. Sounds paranoid, but in fact, we had a weirdo harrass my dogs and me last week, intentionally trying to scare them. (long story, but the jerk falsely pretended to want to meet them.) Let's just say, Loki rose to the occasion and did a good job at telling him off. I like GSD's for that reason that they are suspicious of everyone until they prove otherwise good. They are extremely alert and read people and the environment faster than you can imagine. Loki actually alerted a little sooner than the jerk harrassed us. Had i not ignored it and chocked it up to him being fearful for nothing, i would have prevented the entire thing. so lesson learned: shyness with strangers not always a bad thing!
ReplyDeleteshe's a beauty! so she fits right in with your gorgeous Greys!
congratulations!
I think you all are going to be furry happy with Morgan as your new sis, but I can see she's going to change the family dynamic a bit. You might have to get used to going places as a herd from now on. Morgan appears to be very conscientious. I only shop the same places as most doggies, but if Morgan needs fashion tips you can't go wrong with Anna the GSD. She hasn't blogged in a while, but she always looks feminine, lovely and yet all GSD.

Play nice. How many times have we heard that?
ReplyDeleteYou make Morgan look like a slow motion tub. But make sure you watch her on the corners. She does have some moves and you do look a bit like a goat (I mean that in the nicest way).
ReplyDeleteSlobbers,
Mango
Wow, you sure have some fun with your new addition Bunny! I`m still trying to figure out if I like mine or not to be honest.
ReplyDeleteLu-Lu
Woof! Woof! How sweet, you guys have a new sis. She's a beauty. You guys are very lucky. Enjoyed your video n subscribed in your YTchannel. Lots of Golden Woofs, Sugar
ReplyDeleteAfter a couple more races, Morgan will refine her corner moves and then you better watch out!!
ReplyDeleteAs far as shopping, we shop for our collars/leads at tartanscottie.com, but we doubt that Morgan would want a tartan collar, so we're no help.
XOXO

It's like our house motto here. Usually it's Blueberry that gets overly excited. lol
Mr. Taleteller
What a fun video!! Morgan is grrreat. You are just gonna have to TEACH her how to shop. She'll catch on.
ReplyDelete'Play nice' are two of our favourite words - we always hear them!
ReplyDeleteWe have missed hearing about Morgan somewhere along the way!
We hate shopping - especially Martha!
You greyhounds are so much more sophisticated than us bassets.
You are going to have fun with Morgan - they are fast but never as fast as a greyhound.
love and kisses
Martha and Bailey xxx
Look at Bunny go!! It looks like Morgan is picking up on the "cheating" part of chasing a dog faster than you.;o)
ReplyDeleteOh, I'm so glad you're having fun with your new sister. Even if she is somewhat, um, insistent on keeping the herd together. I'm glad you're letting her know right away who the fastest one in the house is!
ReplyDeleteWiggles & Wags,
Mayzie
Well, German Shepherds and Greyhounds WERE bred for completely different purposes, so it makes sense that Morgan isn't just a Greyhound in a Shepherd's clothing :)
ReplyDeleteI am a big fan of Lupine Collars and Leads. They have a very large selection of beautiful well made collars that come with a great guarantee--if the collar or leash gets chewed, they replace it free of charge. I've sent in a chewed leash once before and it was super easy and pain-free, I sent them my leash and they sent me a new one back really fast.
They don't sell directly from their website (www.lupinepet.com) but they have a list of online and real store retailers. There are a bunch of great online retailers that sell practically everything Lupine ever made.
So, that's the collar I recommend, you should really check them out!
Way to smoke her, Bunny! I bet if you had more room to run it would have been no contest at all!

Speedy bunny! Love the blog!
ReplyDeleteBunny was opening up that gap at will.. and you can see she has plenty of unaccessed horsepower (or perhaps greypower) left under the hood. I love to watch them run.
ReplyDeleteBunny you really need a huge space to show Morgan what you can do. I would love to see that.
ReplyDeleteWhat fun that Morgan turned out to be. She is nutty for not liking to go shopping. That's crazy stuff. Hope you guys have fun today
ReplyDeleteBenny & Lily
Ha ha ha ha, that video reminds me of Trixie trying to catch a vizsla!
ReplyDeleteIt will be interesting to learn all the differences between Greyhounds and German Shepherds, even though you are about the same size. We don't know much about German Shepherds except that Miss M is scared of them (I think something happened in her former life).
ReplyDeleteOh Bunny, it's so hard trying to teach pups, isn't it!!
ReplyDeleteOh Bunny!HOW VERy VERY xcitING!!
ReplyDeleteyour new sister looks gorgeous.
we understand it will seem a little difficult to adjust with each other initially but we believe love and trust can win over any hurdles.
and of course all of you are so very accepting and giving.
about Morgan's new ward-robe....can'
t wait!!
Maybe Luna or Bella the westie can give some advice in that quarter..they are always so well dressed, they certainly can come up with something for your german sister too.
wags,
Gin n Bud
Hahahaha...I'm still laughing at Mr. Talteller saying PLAY NICE...hehahahahahahahaha! I'm okays now. Dat was a good one. You know, we doxies are extremly suspicious of strangers too...shocker, I know. Anyway, it all comes withs time. Of course, I likes everbuddy....ha, I be lieing again.
ReplyDeleteMorgan will learn also in time to shop till her drops. But, her looks like her likes to go nekkid..hehehe. Ummmm, you know, we don't wear collars unless we goes some place. Mum is afraid we will get them hung on sumptin while her is away.
Puddles
