Tuesday night we started the celebrating about Mom being off work a little early, even though Wednesday was her last day of work. It was Bark in the Park night at the Peoria Chiefs baseball stadium. Even though it rained earlier in the day, lots of dogs came out to see the game, but Blueberry and I were the only greyhounds. We got to sit on the green and it was a perfect night for us to go see the game. Not hot at all and very calm. I knew it was going to be a good game when I saw their mascot.
I even had my own ticket! The event is a fundraiser for the local animal shelter, so all the money from dog tickets went to them. I think it was a good deal for everyone.
We walked in and all the ushers started fussing over us. They asked all kinds of questions about us and of course, they wanted to pet me! I was happy to oblige. After we worked the crowd for a bit, we made our way to the green and found a place to sit and watch all the other dogs. There were all kinds of dogs. Big dogs, little dogs, purebreds, designer dogs and mutts. The thing they all had in common was that their people loved spending time with them. One thing I did not need to see was the Pug orgy. Don't worry, there aren't any pictures of that! I barked at them to go get a bush or at least go behind the fence, but they were shameless.
As we watched, a woman came over and asked if she could pet us. Of course she could! I soaked up the attention and she talked to Mom and Dad. It turns out she has a greyhound of her own at home, along with a pair of Italian Greyhounds and a couple of other dogs. She moved here about a year ago. Mom gave her our card (thanks again, Dad) and wrote our e-mail address on it. I hope she sends us an e-mail about meeting up sometime!
You get to go to the games! That's pawsome... and what a good way to raise fund for shelters too. Thanks for taking us along the trip.

Summer break - that's great news. Why does the ball park have the three lions of England as its emblem ?
ReplyDeleteDid you participate in the seventh inning stretch?
ReplyDeleteI am glad there were other doggies there for entertainments because that baseball can have its slow moments. Your dad saved your bottom from the baseball! Way to go! That would have smarted for sure.
ReplyDeleteSlobbers,
Mango
Bunny-
ReplyDeleteHow cool you went to a baseball game! Did you try to catch the fly balls??
Lu-Lu
What a great night! Sounds like you all had a ton of fun, and way to go Dad for catching the ball before it hit you.
ReplyDeleteTerrific reporting as always Bunny!
Oh, what fun! I'd love to do that sometime, as long as it wasn't hot and there was a nice place to lie down. Looks like you had those things covered. Very nice that your Mom's on summer break, too. She can just devote every waking minute to making you all happy for a while. As it should be.

Angus, "Why does the ball park have the three lions of England as its emblem?"
ReplyDeleteO'Brian Field is sponsored by a local car dealership group. The shield w/lions are their logo.
Ummmmm. I was kinda wondering if any doggies tried to chase afters da ball?????? It was a ball game right?
ReplyDeleteOne drawback of being a doxie is that we haves to pay oomans to pet us cuz they don't seems to want to get all da way down on da ground to pet us. You know cuz then da hoomans look like dorks when they fall...hehehehe.
Puddles
I kept wondering if there were Labs at the game, and if so, whether they managed to control themselves around balls being thrown and hit all over the place? My dogs canNOT handle being near tennis courts... they go insane. But, maybe a baseball game would be different :)
ReplyDeleteA Pug orgy? And, no photos? What a lady you are, Bunny.
Yeah, yeah, I hear about your summer break on Facebook, and you stink! :p
ReplyDeleteI'd love to see an event like that here. We only have one small stadium, so maybe it's time to twist their arm a little. And use this post to show them how fun it can be!
Oh we are so very jealous! We would love to go and see a ball game.
ReplyDeleteGreat catch Dad!

that is such a cool event! I wish they had cool stuff like that near where I live! I so would have caught a fly ball!!
ReplyDeleteHope woo all had a blast!!
Wags and woofs,
mack and Mia
Sounds like fun! I could never take Oscar or Wall-E to a ball game. They would feel obligated to chase every ball. Oscar would bring it back to the one who threw it and Wall-E would just hold it. Emmy ends up going a lot of places. Since she is only 6 lbs I can sometimes just put her in a pocket! She enjoys attention and accepts lots of petting as her due.
ReplyDeleteHi. I saw on the "Two Pitties in the City" blog that your dogs eat Nutro. I just wanted to let you know that the food has been recalled SEVERAL times, and the food is very poorly rated on www.dogfoodanalysis.com. It contains a lot of nutrition-less fillers and the meat comes from questionable sources.
ReplyDeleteWe need to move. We are not allowed at our baseball games. BOO!!!
ReplyDeleteDid you give your dad extra licks for catching that ball before it got your tender backside?
Wags,
Zona
Thanks for showing Bunny cos I bet I'm never ever going to go to a baseball game! Wiry wags Eric xx
ReplyDeleteThe photos are great - so many lovely dogs - did we see a Goldendoodle in one of them?
ReplyDeleteWe loved that last photo of you in particular!
take care

*woof*
the booker man
pee s -- is that a new necklace that you are wearing? you look pretty in the pink 'n green stripes!
I hope you got some peanuts and Cracker Jacks!
ReplyDeleteWow! That's looks like all kinds of fun! I haven't been to a baseball game before but Brudder Ranger has and he didn't like it too much. The place where they make the doggies sit is right under the loudspeaker thing and he thinks it's TOO loud! Plus, there are lotsa dogs there having fun and being crazy and he doesn't believe in that at ALL.
ReplyDeleteOh! And it looks like my Booker Man was there! Did you say hi to him for me?
Wiggles & WAgs,
Mayzie
