I Like This Spring Break Business

Bunny here, writing about our fun from the other night.

It was a very warm Spring day the other day, so Dad took off work and went to ride his bike all day.  Why is beyond me, but he's into that sort of thing.  He called Mom in the afternoon and asked her if she'd like to go for a ride that night with their neice and nephew.  I was waving at her in the background, trying to remember what a bad idea bike rides are for her, but she wasn't listening.  The next thing I knew, she was all signed up for the bike ride.  I huffed and went to the couch in disgust.

Mom:  What's the matter, Pupcake?

Me:  You're going on a bike ride!  I heard you!

Mom:  Why is that a problem?

Me:  Surely you remember that last time was a disaster!  I had to take care of you all day after that!

Mom:  I promise to be a lot more careful and we're riding with Hannah and Nathan, not crazy Aunt Julie.  They're not very fast riders.

Me:  Well...  What about my evening walk?

Mom:  I would not skip such an important event.  Besides, we'll have to go later tonight anyway, since it's so warm out.

Me:  You promise?

Mom:  Yes!  It will be a great walk, you'll see!  Hopefully without the killer rabbits this time!

Me:  That was funny!  As long as you promise...

So, Dad, Hannah and Nathan came and got Mom and her bike and loaded into the van.  I paced and worried.  Well, I dreamed about doing that whilst I laid on the couch.  I was very relieved a few hours later to see them return, and this time Mom was not hooked up to funny wires.  Then, the best thing happened!  She came inside and put on my harness and leash, and got Blueberry's, too.  We got to go for a walk with Hannah and Nathan.  It was so much fun!  They are just tall enough that their hands have to be touching us all the time.

We walked our usual route, and wouldn't you know it?  That crazy chihuahua was out there again, but the little devil knew not to mess with me.  My kangaroo ninja moves must have scared him off last time.  He ran off at the sight of me and we went on our merry way.

The funny part was when we got to the park.  There's a creek that runs through there with a footbridge that goes over it.  The creek is full of Spring Peepers and they are all in the mood for love right now.  There was a beautiful serenade in the air.  Nathan found one of the frogs on the sidewalk and he begged Mom for a poop bag to catch it in and take it home with him.  Fortunately for the frog, we used the last one for its intended purpose and he was afraid to touch the frog with his bare hands because Hannah and Mom told him it would pee on him.  So, the little frog went off on his merry way.

I am really liking this Spring Break business when everybody is off school!

  1. That sounds like a Most Marvelous walk, Bunny! And I'm very much glad that your mom didn't end up hooked to any wires after her bike ride. That sounds Most Unpleasant. I'm glad the killer chihuahua didn't mess with you. I laughed imagining you doing kangaroo ninja moves!

  3. Don't they just love to have extra people on their walks? Mine to! When the boys are home, especially with their girls, and we all go out together, Sid is in heaven!

  12. Bunny, I loved this part of your tale:

"They are just tall enough that their hands have to be touching us all the time."

This just has to be one of your best vacation days ever.

P.S., Don't lick or bite those peepers! =(

  15. I am sorely jealous that you got to walk with short people! I am patiently waiting for all my short people to come. Gramma says that maybe Aunt Debbie will bring Kiley this weekend to play with me. Kiley is Gavin's same age and she is his friend. I like her very much (she sneaks food to us dogs!!).

We like your spring break story. :) Can we borrow your mom and dad this week so we can go on an adventure? Our folks have to work all week.
    Sincerely,
    The Ridlon kids.

  20. I'd say that as long as mom remembers your walk, a bike ride is always a good thing! But, it sounds like there's a past story that I don't know about so maybe it isn't always a good thing for your mom.

    Glad you got your walk!!!!!
