We Salute You, Cupcake

Saturday after the parade found us busy making cupcakes for a cookout we were attending on Sunday.  We enjoy making fancy desserts for events that we attend.  I do have to say that I think they turned out pretty well.

Of course, someone thought we needed some snoopervision.  She hasn't stolen anything in a while, but if you recall last time we had Roanoke Days, she is a master thief.  Her favorite thing to steal is hamburger buns, but she doesn't limit herself to that.  She's stolen chicken off plates, chili cups from the trash, an entire roast and made attempts at stealing a pie.  So, her interest in what we were doing with the cupcakes was a cause for concern.  We watched her like a hawk while we were in there working on decorating the cupcakes.

Well, bedtime came and it was turn out time for the girls.  Mr. Taleteller took the girls outside and I was busy with something on the computer in the living room.  A few minutes later, he brought them in and the girls trotted into the kitchen to line up for their bedtime treat.  Then I heard Mr. Taleteller yelling Blueberry's name as she ran to the living room with him, Bunny and Lilac in hot pursuit.

Yes, she'd done it again!  She snagged a big, fat unfrosted cupcake that Mr. Taleteller was saving for himself and took it right to her dog bed.  He took it away from her with a glower.  Bunny batted her eyelashes at him and gently wagged her tail.  Lilac peered up at him with a look that bespoke of eternal devotion.  Mr. Taleteller sighed and tore the cupcake into thirds, giving a piece to each of the three happy girls.

Blueberry, this round goes to you!

  5. It is so good that Mr. Taleteller saw the wisdom of giving the cupcake to the greyhounds. For one thing, all greyhounds look like they could use some cupcakes to me. They are so thin. They all look like runway models who we all know don't get enough cupcakes.
