Bunny here at the keyboard writing about our lazy Sunday.
We didn't really get out much this weekend since we were making sure Mom was getting over her bronchitis and it was bitter cold. We went out to the lake for a quick walk and I was shivering in no time. As far as I'm concerned, Spring can get here anytime.
Sunday afternoon, we found a way to amuse ourselves that everyone could be involved in. Best of all, it was inside and we could enjoy our beds and couch. We all gathered round to watch the Eukanuba National Championship.
Of course, our main interests were the Hound group and the Working Dog group. We were cheering for Chanel, the Whippet, to win. We also thought Sara the Greyhound was pretty. Morgan sniffed in disdain at the German Shepherd, but we were also watching the Australian Shepherd, Reckon, closely.
We were impressed to see dogs win awards for Search and Rescue, Police and Therapy work, too. I was quite impressed by the fancy collars those dogs were wearing when they got those awards. It was good to see that they thought those kinds of jobs were important.
In the end, Reckon won. He reminds us a bit of our cousins, Ruby and Nipper. Mom said those show dogs are lucky they don't have to compete with me. I don't know if I'd like the life of a show dog. It seems like an awful lot of just standing around, and then the judge doesn't even want to pet you. I'll just look good from the couch!

I think your mom is right - you'd be the prettiest one there!
ReplyDeleteYou would definitely take the top prize, Bunny. I sometimes watch the toy group. Of course, the yorkies never make it very far. Probably because we don't really like to listen or follow commands - or maybe that's just me?
ReplyDeleteYour pal, Pip
I agree about watching from the couch. I think that there are much more fun things to do than be a show dog. I cannot even begin to imagine R at a show - he'd disrupt the entire event with his antics!
ReplyDeleteI see that Blueberry has a new cast (splint)? I'm glad that it didn't stop her from getting up close and personal with the TV!
I hope that your mom finally feels like herself this week. And, Blueberry, you'll finally have the couch all to yourself if she's better!
Bunny,
ReplyDeleteYou will always be Best In Show! :)
Woofs and Licks,
Maggie Mae
We watched the show too! We saw a beautiful greyhound that reminded us of you!
ReplyDeleteI think the Real WINNERS were all in Your Living Room.
ReplyDeleteSooooooo did you get your E-mail thingy fixed... PeeS... I don't have need fur that Certain Product.. hehehe
You're definitely a champion at the show, Bunny!!! The show is just let you know how perfect you are if you're there!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a good way to spend a cold day Bunny!
ReplyDeleteI thinks you would have beat them all Bunny!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the dog show report Bunny!! Am sure you would have won had you been there!
ReplyDeleteWe missed it! Mom always watches it! I'm sure it will be on again though. Mom usually doesn't like the GSDs on there, their back legs/hocks are all wonky and angulated...not magestic and strong like me and Morgan!!
ReplyDeleteAnd what' the point of being a show dog if you can't wear snazzy, blingy collars in the ring?? Pfft, whatever!
ohhhh nooo! Your Mom has bronchitis!!?? Ugh! I have had that a few times and it is no fun and takes a loooong time to go away....I hope she is taking care of herself and that she feels better soon.
ReplyDeleteI love how you are so focused on the TV watching the dog show, great way to spend a weekend!
bunny, you look a little bit in disbelief at that winner in the 2nd to last photo.
ReplyDeleteand i LOVE your pink animal print pillow. It's so you! we have animal print pillows too around here. what else would we have?
You'd win for sure, but the petting is limited. I'd take the petting, myself.
ReplyDeleteDarn it, we missed the show. Mom LOVES Whippets. I'm with you Bunny, petting is the better choice.
ReplyDeleteKitty and Coco
The judge doesn't want to pet you? Our Mama says she'd make a terrible judge at those shows then. How could you be in a huge room filled with all kinds of dogs, and not want to go around petting everyone???!!!
ReplyDeleteI thinks standing around lookin' purties would suit you...nevers mind, you would prolly take off running.
ReplyDeleteHow comes you nevers see doxies advance in them shows? Never mind dat also.
I hopes your mom is feeling betters.
Puddles
Oh, yes. I think watching from the comfort of your own bed is WAY better than having to actually be in a show, don't you?
ReplyDeleteI like watching those shows, too. But I'm always kinda confused why they don't have a Mayzie group. Mom says prolly cuz it wouldn't be fair to the other competition.
Wiggles & Wags,
Mayzie
Oh, Bunny... you are far too beautiful for those shows! No one else would stand a chance against you and your sisters!
ReplyDelete-Corbin
Bunny, They'd never let you enter any of the catagories, as they know you'd win every one:)
ReplyDeleteOf course no one can compete with you, Bunny! I'm glad ya had a good time watching the show and hopefully the bronchitis is out of Mommy's system by now!
ReplyDeleteOh no your mom has the same thing that my mom had, its nasty, she needs to stay in the warm, watching a dog show seams like a better thing to watch than football. Unless its dogs that are playing it ;)
ReplyDeleteSee yea George xxx
Bunny, I'll just bet you would win the best dressed award!
ReplyDeletePaws khrossed this is the week your mom feels khompletely better!
ReplyDeleteThanks fur sharing the show scenes!
Hugz&Khysses,
Khyra
Looks like you enjoyed your lazy Sunday afternoon.
ReplyDeleteI'll be watching some of the UK's big dog show Crufts on TV over here in a few weeks. The Lady and the Girl Of The House will both be going to watch at least one day of the show in person at the NEC in Birmingham. But dog visitors aren't allowed. How unfair is that?
Love and licks Winnie
Can't think of a better way to spend a Sunday than watching a dog show on television. Unfortunately this one didn't air here in my area of Canada. Which makes me very sad. I will have to wait for Westminster.
ReplyDeleteI hope you are all feeling a bit better now. You've had it pretty tough lately. I think it is your turn for some good news!
Oh, wot do those dog show judges know? We know who the bestest dogs be - all of us!
ReplyDeleteWe hope your Mom is doing much better today.
ReplyDeleteIf you entered the dog show, Bunny, there is no doubt you would win all the ribbons. The other dogs wouldn't even want to compete against your awesome beauty. But we agree with you, it is so much nicer to just be beautiful at home.
Woos ~ Phantom, Thunder, and Ciara
I'm with ya! Spring can get here any day now! I missed the dog show, I've seen Chanel before. She's pretty. I hope you mom is feeling better every day. :)
ReplyDeleteI love how you look like you're really watching.
ReplyDeleteBunny
ReplyDeleteIt wouldn't be faiw if you entewed a show cause no one else would have a chance. It must be nice fow you to have space to entewtain outside in the summew..all I have is ouw one beddwoom apawtment, so we just have to twip ovew each othew and beaw it..I hope you stay wawm
