A Day of Firsts

Bunny here at the keyboard again with more stories from my trip.

Yesterday morning dawned bright and clear without a cloud in the sky.  The weather was perfect.  So, Mom said we'd start the day with my first trip to the ocean.  I cannot begin to tell you how exciting it was!  Mom took my long line and my hiking collar and I wore my harness.

As we walked over the sand dune and I inhaled the ocean air, I can't begin to tell you how the energy coursed through my body.  I just wanted to run and play in the waves forever.  Mom caught a picture of the first time I saw the ocean.  After I played for a while, we started to walk up the beach.  We stopped and Mom shook the sand out of her sandals and put my prettier collar back on along with my regular leash.

Then we walked down to Sharkey's for breakfast.  There were Greyhounds everywhere in town.  Eating at Sharkey's is a tradition for Greyhounds Reach The Beach weekend, too, so we had to go.  Mom's bagel tasted pretty good.  Lots of people fussed over me and told me how cute I was and commented on how tiny I am and what an unusual color I am.  I could get used to all this attention.

After that, we did some shopping.  I found all kinds of great swag.  Mom got me the greatest new bed that I can't wait to try out, but we have to get pillows for it when we get home.  I also drooled over the sting ray skin collar at Long Dog Leather again, but Mom said it was too expensive.  I hope I can wear her down before somebody else buys it.  We got a little tired, so we came back to the hotel and did a little resting.

After a short rest, we were off to Rehoboth for more shopping and to walk on the boardwalk.  Then we went to Grotto Pizza, another Dewey tradition.  The people at the restaurant are so nice that they even have red pawprint-shaped water bowls for dogs to drink out of while their people are eating.  Not only that, but the food there was to drool for!  I helped Mom eat a little of her boli.  DJ helped his mom eat some of hers, too.

After that, we headed off to the ice cream social.  There were a lot of Greyhounds there, and all the ice cream was for us!  Actually, it was frozen yogurt, which I thought was even better.  Mine was so good that I decided to help DJ with his.

I'm not sure if there can be anything better than all this, but I will be out looking around more today to find out.  I have my paws crossed that I will get to go back to the ocean!

We're also participating in this Saturday's Pet Blog Hop, hosting by Life With Dogs, Two Little Cavaliers and Confessions of the Plume.  If you'd like to participate, please follow the rules and follow your three hosts, add your blog to the Linky and copy and paste the html code into your html editor.  Thanks again to our hosts for putting on the hop!

  6. Beach and Pizza Bones! We are so deprived. Oh, wait, we did have the beach, but we still don't have pizza bones. Hu-dad mutters something about having to order a pizza just for all of us - and we do not see what the problem with that is.

  15. Bunny, I have to ask - Is DJ your boyfriend? He sure is cute...

An ice cream social for dogs! Pawsome! When we lived in New England, an ice cream stand used to have free ice cream for dogs. We drove an hour to get there on weekends. What fun!

Finally, I gotta say - you are such a fashion hound! You even change your collar *during* a hike! Wow - I am so impressed!

Finally (again), we are so jealous about visiting the ocean you lucky greyhound!

  33. Your FIRST TRIP to the ocean!!! Such a memorable day I'm sure :) Feels so good to get your paws wet...

"The first time I ever saw the ocean, I was real disappointed. "That's the ocean?!" I said. No, said Mom and Dad, that's just the parking lot. When we pulled into the lot, I was real disappointed in it. It was hard to find a spot, and the spaces seemed way too narrow, in my book. The ocean was okay, I guess, but I still can't get over how disappointing that parking lot was."
