It's been hot here this week. When I say hot, that seems like a very small word for the oppressive air that beats down on us and steals our breath when we venture out to use the powder room. The other morning when we woke up, they were already saying the heat index was in the triple digits! Yikes! That extreme heat means that it's not safe for us to be outside for long. It also means that we are starting to get a case of cabin fever.
Mom and Dad have been going over to Aunt Julie's house and Grandpa's house all week to check on things because they're both gone. That's right, I have to put up with Dad coming home smelling like Ruby and Nipper and Mom has been spending time with Dirty Harry, Aunt Julie's cat. We've all been understanding since Aunt Julie is gone and I guess it would be wrong to let them starve.
Well, anyhow, Mom got an idea the other night since we were going to both houses. Aunt Julie's house is just a mile from Grandpa's house. Blueberry, Morgan and I all got into the van with them and I saw some unusual gear, including our long lines. They took care of things at Aunt Julie's and then we went to Grandpa's. They took us down to the creek and I got to try out my new PFD. We all had fun dipping our toes in the water and it was definitely a refreshing way to get some exercise without getting too hot.
I was impressed that even Morgan got in. It seems that she might in water after all! Now I just need to convince Mom to take me out to the lake!
Hi Bunny,
ReplyDeleteGlad the gang get to go on a dip at the creek to escape the scorching heat... You look good in the PFD.
Licks, hero
Hi Bunny and gang! Thanks for the gentle nose kisses you sent when we weren't feeling very well, it really helped us to feel better. And now we're hoping that JD's paw improves - he's suffering a bit and is still limping badly, poor boy.
ReplyDeleteWe've just had a lovely catch up on your blog. Hmmm, so many other pups FHs are much better photographers than ours! We're glad you got a dip to cool down - we LOVE your doggie life-jacket-coats, we're wondering if we got one for Max if it would encourage him to have a swim? Probably not! We DO feel for you having SUCH hot weather right now. Triple figures - eek! We think the heat had a lot to do with our sickie tummies, but FH claims it was us scavenging - what does SHE know?!
Schnauzer snuggles - JD and Max.
Hey Bunny! How long is your 'long line' ? I need to make one for Barbie and want to know from those who are experienced what the best length is?
ReplyDeletehelloooo Bunny! Seems all our buddies are hitting the water lately. Guess we'll have to get our feet wet to join the fun!!
ReplyDeleteSmooches,
BabyRD & Hootie
Wow it is REALLY hot there! We've been mildly cooling down although today is supposed to get pretty warm.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you had some water to cool off in, you look so cute in your flotation device. P.S. Dirty Harry is such a great cat name :)
ReplyDeleteHi Bunny!
ReplyDeleteLucius and I are not too keen on getting wet but we`ve been hanging inside in the AC.

It's way hot here, too. Too hot for Pei. We had a great activity planned for today, but even if Blog Mom hadn't gone totally lame we'd have to reconsider. You all stay cool!
ReplyDeletelotsa licks, Lola
Looking very stunning in your PFD! People are usually surprised to find out that shepherds love swimming but all the shepherds that have ever been in our family love the water.
ReplyDeleteKeep cool!
The Road Dogs
Whew! Sounds like it is sweltering there! Keep cool! Sending lotsaluv

It is amazing how many of us are all in the same boat this summer. The dogs are unimpressed with this heat wave - but I am impressed with that life preserver!
ReplyDeleteLuvs your new PFD, very stylish. :) I has been spending lots of extra time inside too, the heat and humidity at my house has been SO uncomfortable for me. Have a great weekend and stay cool!
ReplyDeleteWoofs and Licks,
Maggie Mae
You always look so cute in your pink!
ReplyDeleteYes. Stay cool! It's hot!!!!!
You PFD looks wonderful on you!! Getting your tooties wet is a great way to have some fun outside in this heat! Hope it breaks soon.
ReplyDeleteWags,

Hey Bunny - that was about the best description of the heat I ever read - very poetic!
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, the heat is insane up here, too! Mama and I usually walk (she walks, I ride) over to the Farmers Market on Saturday mornings, but I may stay home today - just too hot.
Your pal, Pip
I only get that Cabinet Fever in the WINTER. Remember the picture of me suffering with it???

"Hi", from the blog hop!
Hey to Bunny, Blueberry and Morgan! Great post. You won't believe this, but I just got to go swimmie in the creek here this morning too! Boy is that fun. I swim out after sticks and fetch them. Great fun! I have a PFD too, but you look great in yours. I don't like mine, so I don't even wear it much anymore. I swim too good to need it. Tee hee...my butt bobs up in the water and floats! BOL! Hey, Morgan...will I get to see you at my Cousin Frankie's wedding? It think it's only 87 more days away now.
ReplyDeleteGrr and Woof,
Sarge
We are experiencing some pretty decent temps also. We're up by 5 each morning to get the hounds their exercise before it hits 100. BTW, I can just see the girls doing Riverdance :) Thanks for the comments, they make me laugh as well as look at the photos differently.
ReplyDeleteNice to meet you Bunny! This is our first Blogger Hop and we're glad we found you! We have a pool and it's been 95+ around here for a while so even those of us who don't venture into the water have taken a dip to cool off!
ReplyDeleteKeep Cool!

It has been hot here, too, and we have been sticking to the highest elevation trails we can find just to stay cool. And nothing like a little splashing in the numerous mountain creeks.
ReplyDeleteWere you successful in beating the heat?
ReplyDeleteenny & Lily
Hoy, hot, hot here too!! Mostly we stay inside in the A/C!!

Whew, makes me kind of glad I don't live in the mid-west any longer (I grew up in Northwest Missouri, and can remember some stinky hot summers.) I hope that everyone continues to stay cool! Or at least as cool as possible...
ReplyDeleteI agree with you Bunny. This Midwest summer has been a real stinker. I can't imagine wearing a fur coat in this heat. Glad you and your sisters were able to get out and soak your toes in some cool water.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of cool, I like your PFD!
Love the PFD, especially the handle on the back. What a great idea! Maybe Morgan is taking to the water - you teach her, girl.
ReplyDeleteI hope that it cools off for you so your cabin fever is cured.
I love your understated comment "I guess it would be wrong to let them starve"... How generous of you!
I am oh so sorry about the hotness where you are! It's been hot here, too, but I don't think it's been Africa hot like at your place. I'm glad you gots to go out for a little bit and I LUVS your PFD. It's PINK! You so fashionable.
ReplyDeleteWiggles & Wags,
Mayzie
