In the mornings, Morgan is particularly exhuberant in her greetings. Sometimes, I meet her at the gate in the hallway and have a little chat with her over the gate until I feel she's had enough time to take in the splendor of seeing my face again for the first time since the night before. There's nothing like a Shepherd in your life to make you feel treasured, let me tell you! After she's regained control of herself, I cautiously move through the gate and then her calm façade vanishes and she has to pounce on me until she's had a chance to wash my face with her tongue. Yes, I fall for it every morning, but the alternative is not getting my bottle of water to start the day, so I start every day with my first face wash before turning on the bathroom sink. Now that I've gotten used to it, though, I have to say, it's nice being greeted with that much enthusiasm every day.
Mr. Taleteller is known to play games with Morgan, moreso than I do. We have our hide and seek time, and she does bring me her toys to toss, but more often, she does a little wrestling and rough-housing with my husband. They both enjoy these little sessions, and Morgan needs them to burn off steam. One thing that we've learned about Morgan over the months is that she's a knitter. She likes to nibble on Mr. Taleteller's hands like she's eating an ear of corn. It's rather cute, but this is her one behavior that he doesn't appreciate. While I find it rather cute, he does not. Of course, she never knits on me!
The other morning, I was finishing my make up in the bathroom mirror. Mr. Taleteller had finished his shower and gone into the bedroom to get dressed. I noticed that he put the baby gate up so that no one could get into the bedroom with him. Morgan stood at the gate, looking very wistful. I gave her a little brain massage and then put the gate down. The next thing I knew, I heard a rather girly scream come from the bedroom. I leaned out the bathroom and asked my husband if he was okay.
He informed me that not only had Morgan stuck her cold nose to his derriere, she'd decided to nibble on his butt cheek as well. I will spare you all the images of that horror. That's mainly because I was laughing too hard to get any sort of photo of the event. Suffice it to say, I really love having a German Shepherd. Life is certainly never dull when they play their games!
We'd also like to wish George the Lad a happy birthday today. Here are our steps for you. May you have many more happy years and stairs to climb ahead of you!

ReplyDeleteHugz&Khysses,
Khyra
Morgan sure fits into your family well:)
ReplyDeleteOh Morgan ! Cold nose - acceptable. Butt nibbling - unacceptable.
ReplyDeleteWe wish there had been a photo of that - priceless!
ReplyDeleteOnce you have been loved by a GSD you know what love is.................!
love
Martha and Bailey xxx
Well, you couldn't have posted the photo even if you'd gotten it. The internet cops would have done you for distributing porn. Mama personally likes a dog that engenders respect in visitors, although all a Dane usually has to do is look at them straight in the eye. Grayhounds are sweet, beautiful dogs, but who would you want by your side if someone were trying to break into your house? It's a huge responsibility, having to protect the whole human & canine family. A girl is entitled to a little butt nibble. It's part of her joie de vivre.
ReplyDeleteWow, what a story! Pictures are worth a thousand words and $10K on TV!
ReplyDeleteWe have a doggie friend who is about 10 months old, and more German Shepherd than anything else. She stayed at our house for a day and wore out Minnie and Mack! She is so loving and sweet, but FULL of energy and shenanigans....
Mack doesn't mind wearing his winter hat. It matches his winter coat, ha ha ha. Thanks for visiting us.
Drools and licks,
Minnie and Mack
Sounds just like Erin in the morning, she is totally wired first thing in the morning. German Shepherds are known for their loyalty, intelligence, work ethic but they are extremely Loving too and thrive on the smallest attention given to them. Morgan is a Beauty!
ReplyDeleteSurely you need to get photos next time. THINK OF US! Oh, maybe you're right. Still. You could have at least posted an audio file of your laughing.
ReplyDeleteAh, Morgan. There'll be more stories. You know it.
Yay, Morgan! the family sure loves you!
ReplyDeleteIt could have been worse. He could have been facing the other way. Just saying.
ReplyDeleteAh to be yung again.... Those woz the days. Goosing hoomans in the nekkid behind with a cold nose do be so much funs. I do still greet the morning enthusiastically - not coz I am happy to see mom, she always be here and I sleep rite next to her bed, but I jump and dance and sing coz by golly, I has to go out and PEE!
ReplyDeleteI love the Morgan stories. She's hysterical, and reminds me of a certain lab who I know who bursts with love at every greeting. That lab (who shall remain nameless) once barged into the bathroom with my nephew. Screams emanated and we could barely make out "he licked my ****"!
ReplyDeleteThe poor little boy was mortified! But, he learned to latch the door behind him!
I swear she had her nose in the freezer before the "meet and greet" with my rear. That would be right up her alley.
ReplyDeleteMr. Taleteller.
If only I could leap over the baby gate - a dog can dream, right?
ReplyDeleteYour pal, Pip
Schwann man left to puddle...hu-dad left with a cold nose up his crack and a love bite...hehehehehe! Oh that post made our day! Hehehehehe! We pugs are known for invading the bathroom and licking our humans too...they make sure not to bend over anymore after the first cold nose to the crack....hehehehehe!
ReplyDeleteMuch luvums,
The Slimmer Puggums
George, Gracie, Toby, Lily, and Mimi
We are laughing so hard we can hardly type! That was a great story! Mister Higgins is the wired one in our house. He can't hold his "licker" either!
ReplyDeleteLovely picture of the family :)
Kisses,
Emma Rose and the Duchess
lol!!! That nidding thing is funny, us dogs can't help it if we have cold wet nose's
ReplyDeleteLove the photo of you on the steps thanks for putting it up, is it ok to take it and put it in my steps file, mom says she will print them out for my memory box.
See Yea George xxx
PS we did make it to the water fall, but mom didn't think we would make it back at one point!!it is the most beauiful place that I have ever been to in the UK
butt nibbling?? *LOL* Way to go Morgan! Ahhh... sometimes we all need a joker at home. Have a great weekend with the girls.
ReplyDeleteOh, life with Morgan sounds very lively indeed. We give everyone big greetings when they arrive home from anywhere - sometimes even from the end of the driveway when they just go out to get the mail. We aren't that excited in the morning, though. Then we just have to ease into the day a bit.
ReplyDeletelotsa licks, Lola
Hi Y'all,
ReplyDeleteDon't worry Morgan, my Humans tell me that we have far fewer visitors since I came to live here...although I am getting better at controllin' my protective noises and overly friendly welcome once I'm sure the Humans want the visitors.
My Human Momma says I've scared most of the family away. I've informed her they don't really like dogs anyway, so no loss. Not sure she agrees...please don't repeat, since I could never say such a thing in my blog; they read it, you understand.
Take care Morgan,
Hawk aka BrownDog
That is an hysterical story heheh! We want to go over and look at the auction, so we're off!
ReplyDeleteLove your stairs photo!
Hugs xoxoxo
Sammie and Avalon
OH BOL! That is too much! We've already bid on an auction item.
ReplyDeleteNubbin wiggles,
Oskar
Hi Y'all,
ReplyDeleteJust followed you back to thank you for followin'.
Y'all come back now,
Hawk aka BrownDog
Morgan gurrrrrl!!! I thought what you did was rather cool and lovable! I think you've made quite an impression on your new family, we're so happy for you and all of you!
ReplyDeleteBunny, I really love your high-end pink jumper suit too you know? Unfortunately mum said my neck is too thick and my body not slim enough. What was she implying??
Give Blueberry nibbles for me (I don't lick, I nibble when I'm happy), I hope the auction goes well and she gets her clean margin surgery.
We will keep you guys in our thoughts and prayers too.
ps. Does Blueberry's mama not go on walks with you guy?
Love nibbles,
Miss Sunshade
The wet-nose-poke is a classic dog move, but adding a butt-nibble just goes above and beyond. Bravo.
ReplyDeleteSounds like Morgan's a real comedian. It's fun to have one of those around. Zoe is ours. At least Morgan balanced things out by guarding your pack. She's a good girl.
ReplyDeleteThe best thing about dogs is their enthusiasm, it doesn't matter how long they haven't seen seen you for, they greet you like they had lost you and are overjoyed to have found you again.
ReplyDeleteBella and Ollie's Dad.
BOL - you made Mom burst out laughing - she says she could just picture that same scene here if only we could figure out how to get upstairs.
ReplyDeleteWoos ~ Phantom, Thunder, and Ciara
Hide and seek is my most favoritest game!!! Maybe Morgan and I could team up sometime!
ReplyDeleteWags,
Zona
Perfect capture of the daily life with a GSD!! Loved it!!
ReplyDeleteBOL BOL BOL BWAR HAR BARR
ReplyDeleteThis is a riot! Thanks for giving me such a huge chuckle. I gotta remember this butt game so I can play it with my dad. He'll be sooo happy! BOL My family knows about "knitting" too, but they call it "flea bitting". Morgan is a real beauty and she's got tons of personality. You can never blame a Shepherd (or part shepherd) for being territorial/aggressive...believe me. We can try to repress it, but, well, it just happens anyway. Thanks again for the butt bite laugh.
Grr and Woof,
Sarge
Morgan girrrrrl you ROCK!!! I am sure your dad made some sounds that are worthy of remembering!!! I am proud of you girrrrl.
ReplyDeleteWe have been to the auction and momma bid on some cool stuff and one not-so-cool thing - it was FUR the cats. We are gonna put up your button on our bloggy to help.
ReplyDeleteLOL! That is too funny!
ReplyDeleteGreat step picture!
Alien says he will be by later to show off his battle wounds and try and impress the girls. :)
Hugs,
Morgan is great xxxx
ReplyDeleteThat episode of Morgan with Dad sure was funny!
ReplyDeleteHappy sunday!
